December 11th-
Went to Vane for the first time in ages and my first visit since they revamped the scrapes. Certainly looks promising for passage waders come the spring and the Whooper Swans are liking it- there were just over 200 which is the largest number i have seen within the confines of the reserve. One of the White-tailed Eagles from the reintro scheme was causing havoc for the pinkies in the distant fields. Then went for a look across Loch Leven, best I could manage was 80+ Goosander, 3 RB Merg and I dipped on the Green-winged Teal and Smew.
