October 11th-12th
While surveying I came across a nice mixed flock of thrushes feeding on Rowan berries in a glen in North Ayrshire; 4 Ring Ouzel, 30 Redwing, 20 Mistle Thrush and 7 Fieldfare.
The next day while driving back towards Dunfermline, several flocks of Redwing flew over the road, something was going on......
October 14th
A decent fall of migrants. Rather than take the easy option and rush straight for the E Neuk I made an early start at the local patch at Carlingnose Point. Nothing mega, but great to see thrushes dropping out of the sky this far up the forth, 1 first winter Ring Ouzel showed well and Redwings totalled just over 200. Also 34 Brambling and divers were being pushed up the Forth in murk, a total of 70 RTD included a flock of 31 that included a GND.
After this with the sun coming out I took a drive up to Kilminning with missus on a get some Lunch, hopefully see some migrants combo. Pulled up at the central car park and within 3/4 hour had seen a Red-breasted Flycatcher and a Yellow-browed Warbler. Later found out that a real Eastern Ollie had turned up, oh well.
