Two more species of hummingbird encountered in the Lesser Antilles; Purple-throated Carib and Green-throated Carib. The Purple-throated's range is limited to the Lesser Antilles and is mainly found in mountain forests. The Green-throated range extends from Lesser Antilles to Puerto Rico and the species can be found in a broad range of habitats including gardens.

Taken near some hummingbird feeders on St Lucia. The colour of the wings was stunning, as was the throat if you saw at a certain angle to the light otherwise it could look black at times.

This Green-throated was attracted to a flowering shrub located within a small square in a busy tourist area of shops and bars at the Port of St Johns on Antigua.
