Yesterday, Sat, Kincraig Pt.
An adult Cuckoo was  a nice bird to see in Fife, despite the species fairing better in many upland parts of Scotland compared to England, it's an uncommon species in this part of Scotland. This one was presumably a migrant given the Coastal location and it's scarcity in the county, it was good value to see it in rather incongruous surroundings as it got chased along the beach by Meadow Pipits.
Also good to see aprrox. 20 Bottle-nosed Dolphin, in 3 closely spaced pods, moving slowly close inshore round the point and along the edge of the bay towards Earlsferry. I haven't had much luck with Cetaceans in the Firth of Forth, in fact the only thing I've seen previously in my c.5 years of living here is Harbour Porpoise. It does have it's moments though; Orcas that made it up to the Forth Bridges for instance.

Given the mid June date this Adult Cuckoo could well be about to leave Britain. In June 2013 one of the BTO tracked Cuckoos, 'BB' that had been on  territory in the Loch Katrine area, moved to the Scottish E coast by June 18th and then had crossed the N Sea to the Netherlands by June 21st.

There are 1-2 Gropper territories in the Kincraig Pt area. This bird gave very close views and it's behaviour suggested there was a nest nearby, so I backed off quickly.
