Spring has certainly sprung in Scotland now. Last week another productive visit to Dumfries and Galloway produced awesome views of Goshawk, a pair and a third bird displaying  and a tiny male Sparrowhawk mobbing the huge female Gos.
Spring firsts for me were Wheatear (4th) and an overnight arrival of Willow Warbler (7th).

Back in Fife at the weekend and migrations watches from Ferryhills were dominated by north bound winter finches; a Twite and 5 Brambling on Sat were followed by a nice count of 17 Brambling and 12 Crossbill on Sunday. Summer visitors were also on the move with small numbers of Sand Martins and a nice White Wag through on Sunday.

A Little Egret was a new arrival at Letham on Sunday, while a Barnacle Goose amongst the Pink-feet was likely to be a genuine north bound migrant. Around 60 Sand Martins were present but I couldn't pick out any Swallow. That was saved for when I was nearly home with one over Duloch Park, Dunfermline my first of the year,

A Brambling heading north over Ferryhills. An obvious passage of this species this weekend.
