Last week while working  the Highlands summer visitors were getting back on territory including Tree Pipit and Ring Ouzel. Also a prominent  passage of pink-footed geese was noted on 19th with 680 north.

Sat the 21st on the Patch at Ferryhills saw a surprise Nuthatch. Despite being well established on the south side of the Forth in Lothian this is still a rare bird in Fife although perhaps it's status is about to change here with a pair of birds frequenting a park in Dunfermline this winter.

For a species with a reluctance to cross expanses of water it was a certainly a good day for going for it, being really calm and sunny, the bird gave the impression it was newly arrived in off the Forth as moved west through the big gardens bordering the site. It was extremely vocal giving a loud ringing song.
