August 21st- took the missus to Perth for something and then decided to try out somewhere new, a walk by part of the Tay Reedbeds between Errol and Port Allen. Something that certainly surprised me when I moved up here was the fact that at around 410 hectares this represents the largest continuous area of reed in Britain.
Saw 3 different Marsh Harriers but no Beardies, although I don't how they have done after the recent hard winters. Typicallly the best action took place when I was on a section of  path surrounded by trees and I had glimpses of  a juv White-tailed Eagle from the E Coast release scheme being mobbed by a Male Marsh Harrier, but by the time I got clear with camera at the ready it was all over of course! Other stuff seen included 300 Sand Martin, Kingfisher and Water Rail.

This Male Marsh Harrier had just finished mobbing a White-tailed Eagle as I got clear of the trees!
