Fancied a change today so shock, horror I left the Ferryhills Patch!
But rather than join the masses at Fife Ness/Kilminning I decided to try the Boarhills area for the first time. It's harder to the work this area with the hotspots requiring a bit more of a trek to get to but there is some great habitat here.
Highlights were 2 Yellow-browed Warbler, 1 Ring Ouzel, with lots of Goldcrest (c.50), Song Thrush (35) and Blackbird (30). The Yellow-brows were in Kittocks Den while the Ouzel was right on the cliff edge near Buddo Ness.
The trees around the pond right on the cliff at Boarhills are an awesome looking migrant trap which has already turned up some good birds in recent years. They were a bit quiet today but 1 Water Rail was calling. It was also nice to come across some farmland species that are still doing ok out on the East Neuk of Fife-Grey Partridge, Corn Bunting and Tree Sparrow (Including a nice flock of 30).
