It was nice to wake up to a warm sunny morning on Sunday after the constant rain of the previous day and it looked like the birds were enjoying it too with plenty of activity from the local breeders. Once again no rare or scarce came my way on another walk round Kincraig Head in what felt like the last chance of the spring but a Bonxie flying high West inland of the Head was a minor surprise and it was nice to see 8 Manxie past on the sea. The local seabirds were busy especially the Auks as they commuted between breeding sites on the Isle of May and elsewhere in the Forth to feed; I saw a Puffin with a beakful of fish. On land a Gropper was in the same place as last Sunday.
Gropper-this bird was warming up in the morning
sun after spending the night in soaking veg
hence the punk rocker look
Reed Bunting-common breeder round the head
in wide field margins and banks containing
rank vegetation
