Early morning yesterday July 30th, Rossie Bog was once again dead for waders so on to my main migration site of choice for the autumn, Kincraig Point where my first two Arctic Skuas of the autumn were lingering offshore, a total of 21 Crossbill went overhead and the bird highlight on the deck was...wait for it.. a Green Woodpecker. Before you roll your eyes and look for a more interesting blog I should mention that this was the first time I've had this species here and it was a Juv in islolated Sycamores right by the cliff edge so presumably indicative of dispersal. There was also a Gropper singing right on the cliff edge which might have been a migrant. A Painted Lady Butterfly was certainly a migrant and my first of the year.
Later me and the missus went south over the Forth Bridge and dropped into Musselburgh Lagoons where there was a smart Ad Curlew Sand moulting out.
