Sept 4th- Me and Jon Daisley had a day out on the East Coast of Lothian taking in some sites I knew and some I didn't. Being birders we were actually complaining that it was too nice with the clear blue skies unlikely to drop many migrants but even we had to admit that it was quite a novelty to be walking around with the big orange thing burning down on us.
What did we see? Well Torness produced a moderately late Common Swift(plus some questions from the police when we started pointing our bins at the Power Station), then a walk from Skateraw to Barns Ness with 5 Yellow Wags, 3 Stonechat(good to see as numbers really down after the hard winter), 4 Wheatear, plenty of Small Copper and my first Scottish Wall Brown.
Next stop Tyningham where there were 3 Ruff on flooded Turf fields, then 3 RN Grebe off Longniddry, and finallly 5 Juv Curlew Sands, 4 Ruff and a First Winter Little Gull Musselburgh.
