November 4th-somewhere in Argyll and Bute.
After a few days of strong SSE winds and heavy showers the day dawned calmer and brighter and a few birds got going overhead. Most notable was a Richards Pipit screeping it's way NE, along with a Snow Bunt, Twite, 80 Redwing and 2 Goosander. Also a Juv Hen Harrier and a Merlin hunting in the area. The Merlin was trying to take out a Redwing and deploying it's disguise myself as a Mistle Thrush flight technique. Funnily enough a Mistle Thrush had been around with a Redwing flock earlier.
November 6th-The Binn, above Burntisland, Fife.
Scraped ice off the windscreen for the first time this morning but just one of those crisp clear days you got to be out and about in. With these conditions it was going to be about viz mig and a Snow Bunting was a predictable highlight. This somewhat confused bird spent the best part of an hour flying around the area, looked to be a male with a big amount of white in the wing. Overall numbers of birds were a bit on the low side for the conditions, a couple of Brambling, trickle of chaffs(would have expected more of these two) and a few other finches. Thrushes were evident over and on the deck including the ever smart Fieldfares.
