February 16th-
Somewhere in Argyll and Bute
An immature White-tailed Eagle flying alongside the car made for a very impressive sight, probably a third calender year. The weather was largely on the mild side this week but I will still surprised to hear an early Snipe drumming one evening. The odd Mipit and Skylark returning to the higher ground too.
February 19th-
A bright sunny day saw me and the wife drive up the East Neuk of Fife stopping to look for geese at Rossie Bog on the way. We found a flock of Pinkies and Greylag that contained at least 9 Euro Whitefront, although not as impressive as the count of 56 seen there yesterday.
A drive round farmland in Anstruther direction didn't come up with anything and we finished at Pittenweem Harbour which looked spot on for a white-winged gull but still no luck. Very pleasant location though, with drake Eiders looking good in the sunshine.
