Feb 24th
Another pleasant early morning tempted me back to Loch Gelly in the hope of tucking myself in along the bank closer to some Otter action. The plan worked when my attention was drawn to some alarm calling Herring Gulls and then the Otter swimming below them. It spent some time diving before being lost from sight  behind the reeds, only to reappear with a second Otter. Both spent some time fishing before going back into the reeds, unfortunately never coming close enough for decent photos only the woeful record shots below...

There was a definite size/length difference between the two which I guess could add up to one of two scenarios; male and female, or female and large young as these stay with the mother for a year. Female Otter can be in season throughout the year but Feb/March are the most frequent months.
