May 4th
Had an opportunity to look round ST Abbs Head, Borders today. Never been here before, beautiful rugged coastline and  seabird colonies. Also has a good reputation for scarce and rare migrants but not on a day with clear skies and a blasting south-westerly...

The trees around the Mire Loch at ST Abbs can be a good migrant trap but not in the current conditions.

As I was heading to St Abbs I came across Pease Dene. This wooded gully by the sea looks like it should do the business in the right conditions, particularly for Pallas and Yellow-brows in the autumn.
