October 30th -Nov 1st.
Somewhere in the Highlands doing bird surveys, as lovely as ever up here although the weather wasn't very kind with frequent torrential downpours. The brief dry interludes did produce a Peregrine stooping on a flock of Fieldfare and a distant Golden Eagle.
Better views were had of an Eagle on the drive back to Glasgow over the A 82 Loch Lommond side. I have driven this road a fair bit over the last two years and never seen one before. Certainly the closest you are ever likely to see one to Glasgow.

The weekend.
Was hoping that the rain front crossing Scotland and dragging in a SE airflow on Sat might do something on the migration front but not much going on.
Ended up checking fields around the Rossie Bog area for goose flocks, the only flaw in that plan being that there weren't any goose flocks. It also felt like admitting defeat , that autumn migration was almost over.
Still there are always new (often rather optimistic!) plans to be hatched. I fancy checking some Fife forestry this winter for Two-barred and Parrot Xbills.
