Feb 2nd. Rossie Bog, Fife.

First birding of 2014 in Scotland, the weather actually not that bad if rather windy and  almost no Snow even in the distant hills. Even so me and the missus definitely felt we had gone soft after a month of temperatures in the high 20's. Nothing  exciting to report, 178 Greylag and a few Pinkies  in fields along the Dunshalt Road. The water levels are much higher on the bog and even the usual pools on the periphery near Keepers Cottage now have some water-which could bode well for spring migration.

A few more images from the Caribbean trip:

Brown Trembler on Guadeloupe. These excellent thrush sized birds have the habitat of frequently drooping the wings and 'trembling' them. Found in forest habitat on several of the Lesser Antilles. I also saw the similar Grey Trembler on St Lucia, this species is only found on one other Island, Martinique.

Plumbeous Warbler on Guadeloupe. This smart little Dendroica has a Phyllosc like feel to it. Restricted to Guadeloupe and Dominica.
