Last week... I was south of the border doing some surveys in Lincs again. It's easy to be fooled on first glance into thinking that the combination of arable farmland, drainage ditches and small pockets of woodland isn't going to be particularly productive but I've been continually surprised at what I've seen. An impressive list of breeding Red List farmland birds including  Tree Sparrow, Yellow Wagtail, Corn Bunting and Grey Partridge.
A pair of Hobby look to be holding territory and Marsh Harrier are frequently seen. Dragonflies included Brown Hawker, a new one for me.
Also a sign that autumn migration has already started for some passerines with a female Whinchat in a corn field.

Today at Kincraig Pt, Fife.
The best from a seawatch were 12 Manxies, while the late summer build up of Goosander has started in this area with 97 birds counted.

This late summer gathering is an annual event in the Kincraig to Ruddons Pt area, and presumably represents a post breeding moult migration.
