Friday..
12 Crossbill flew west over the Highland Showground. (As my wife will testify birders never really switch off)

Today..
Good morning for raptors. Osprey fishing over the west end of Loch Leven seen from the car as a I drove up the M90. Then a Marsh Harrier seen perched up at Rossie Bog. A second calendar year male with some grey central tail feathers. Always a good bird to see in Scotland. June is probably not a bad month for catching up with wandering non breeding raptors at the northern end of their range (The Hobby I had over Kilrenny last weekend was a second calendar year as well).
Final visit was to Letham where the water levels are starting to come down a bit, hopefully not too much rain for the rest of the summer (wishful thinking) so it becomes more attractive to passage waders. A Common Snipe was present today, my first sighting since April here so presumably an indication of the first return passage. Two broods of Gadwall were good to see.
