A Little Egret at Vane Farm was actually the first I've ever seen there, although I haven't been visiting Vane so much in the last few years. Certainly Little Egrets seem to be getting more frequent in Scotland in general and there was a good run of sightings in Fife last autumn.
At Letham a few waders were noted including 8 Snipe and a Dunlin. A seawatch from Kinghorn Sunday evening in increasing Easterly wind and rain threatening skies was disappointing with 3 Manx Shearwater the highlight (An evening seawatch on Tuesday July 16th here was better with 47 Manx in just over an hour).
Last night a Whimbrel heard over Glasgow at around 23.00 hrs while I was doing a bat survey.

The Little Egret at Vane Farm was a Juv and I wonder if it's origins are similar to the colour ringed bird I had in Fife last Dec which I had been ringed as a nestling in Lincolnshire the same year. |
