Yesterday..
Not quite as lively as hoped in a fresh easterly and showers at Carlingnose Point, a fine group of 10 Arctic Skua were lingering offshore. No poms or long-tails.

Today...
The theory went...play it cool and let the easterlies and rain bring in a load of drift migrants on Sat and then with calmer conditions on Sun morning start mopping them up.
Back in the real world... nothing had arrived in any number but there was a reasonable variety of migrants to be seen the pick of which were a cracking Wood Warbler, 2 each of Pied and Spotted Flycatchers,  1 male Redstart and a fly over Yellow Wagtail.
A Ruff was seen flying around with a Golden Plover flock and other waders were on the move overhead with single Common Snipe, Redshank and 3 Ringed Plover noted.

Couple of years ago an interesting wader was seen by birders flying  over with golden plover nearby at Balcomie. It was photographed and confirmed as a Buff-breasted Sandpiper. I wasn't that lucky but this ruff added to the variety of birds seen today.  These are only record shots but a Buff-breast can be ruled out by the lack of a dark crescent on the underwing. Also the shape is typical Ruff-tubby body, small head and medium length bill. In the lower photo you can just make out obvious foot projection, another pro Ruff feature. (In reality it was easier than this as I also saw the upperwing pattern and white sides to rump)
