This weekend..
Severe westerly gales and heavy snow showers particularly on Sat. I was hoping that this would be good for driving a few white-winged gulls into Fife. On Sat an afternoon seawatch from the car at Kinghorn produced a good passage of gulls including 233 Kittiwake battling into the wind close inshore but nothing else to write home about.
The most surprising thing was hard weather movement of Linnet; a total of 186 were counted coming in off the Forth low over the water battling into the westerly wind. (Escaping snow covered hills on the other side of the Forth in Lothian?). Also surprising that other passerines weren't part of this movement e.g. Skylark often react quickly to snow fall.

Today gave the gulls a grilling at Levenmouth. As always good numbers around and good viewing but still no Iceland or Glauc! 12 Scandi Herring Gulls including these three:
