It just shows that you shouldn't ignore your back doorstep. A gloomy wet and windy day didn't inspire me to go out but I decided to watch the regular gull roost movement over Dunfermline from my bedroom window encouraged by an Iceland Gull seen near Dunfermline tip last week. Steady stream of gulls then...hang on thats a white winger! A 1st winter Iceland Gull cruised past at roof top height.
A drake Goosander going over was almost as surprising (although we do have a suds pond outside the house and there are plenty of lochs dotted around the edge of town).
