Thursday
Flock of Whooper Swans bugeling away as they flew south over house at 2am

Friday

Day off so I hit the Boarhills area again. Lovely day for a walk along the coast but in terms of migrants nothing juicy just a scatter of Goldcrests and Thrushes. The East winds didn't kick in until late in the day. A Merlin was the highlight, perhaps attracted by the impressive numbers of Skylark in the area (130). A Bottle-nosed Dolphin was also seen in St Andrews Bay.

Saturday
The patch at Ferryhills did the business this morning with a proper quality vis mig species-Waxwing. A total of 7 birds went over (4, 2 and 1). Numerous reports of this species along the E coast today hinting that perhaps it's going to be a big year for them. A good variety of other species on the move including 15 Brambling.

A nice flock of 11 Bullfinches were in the Ferryhills area, initially seen perched on the overhead wires before dropping into cover. Suggestive of them being  on the move. I tried to make them Northern Bullfinch  but the warm orange toned underparts on this male rule that out.
