This weekend..
A cold wind blasting down from the north has been the feature although there has been plenty of bright spells.
On Sat morning I was at the patch on Ferryhills which was, shall we say bracing, but I stuck it out and although most species were in very low numbers I was rewarded with a flock of 25 Waxwing flying through low into the wind.
Later  post shopping in Dunfermline I saw a flock of c.20 Waxwing by the Sinclair Roundabout. In the morning at Ferryhills I had noticed  some seabird activity out on the Forth mainly involving flocks of high flying Red-throated Divers and Kittiwakes so decided to try bit further out on the Forth at Kinghorn in the afternoon and although not exactly busy it was one of my better sessions in what has been a poor autumn for seawatching in the Forth. Probably the best record was a late Juv Arctic Tern lingering offshore. This is a late one but I'm pretty sure I've had one later also at Kinghorn around Nov 10th -ish (Need to dig out the notebook). Also  2 Juv Pom Skuas, 1 Bonxie. 5 LT Duck and good numbers of Kittiwake.
I managed to convince myself that with the strong Northerlies continuing overnight there would be more Poms about on Sunday morning-after 2.5 hrs in the cold at Carlingnose Point with the only skua seen being a Bonxie it was time to quit.
Autumn is nearly done but I might be able to squeeze a couple of Vis mig watches at Ferryhills out of it next weekend....
