A week off this week as the birding Bro was visiting from down south. It was a very productive week for birds with the obvious highlight getting the Bro his first ever Golden Eagle (viewed from a public road)-really good views as well. Also very close views of a pair of Short-eared Owl (also viewed from a public road).
After some amazing hot weather at the start of the week things predictably went downhill with rather wet weather becoming established but an onshore breeze in the Forth was worth a seawatch and we had a couple of watches from Kinghorn, Fife, both producing single Roseate Terns (different individuals), a few Manx Shearwater and plenty of Puffins.
We checked the Wilderness for waders, not quite as productive as last Saturday but the male Ruff was still present along with Greenshank, Common Sand, Black-tailed Godwit.

A locally scarce Hobby in Fife this morning was a fine end to a good weeks birding.
