Yesterday at Ferry Hills it felt like the first proper watch of the autumn with decent variety on the move for the early date . Waders were represented by 6 Curlew and 3 Black-tailed Godwit, while other species included 13 south bound Sand Martin and 5 Crossbill. The first Tree Pipit can't be far away but it was actually a Meadow Pipit that became the first pipit species of the autumn yesterday.
A Dark Green Fritillary was also seen, following my first record last year.

Today a check of Fife wetland sites didn't produce two many waders with 2 common sandpipers at Angle Park and 2 Dunlin at the Wilderness the best. At Letham nice to see some breeding success with over 50 fledged Juv Black-headed Gull from the colony there and two broods of Gadwall.

Not what you expect to encounter in July but this Whooper Swan has been a long stayer at the Wilderness
