A productive week off work with the brother visiting from down south.
The patch at Ferry Hills still received plenty of coverage and gave us a nice prize with a dark Juv Long-tailed Skua lingering over the Forth, circling with Kittiwakes (about the same size as them) and later joined 2 dark Juv Arctic Skuas giving excellent comparison with them (obviously smaller, slimmer).
We visited other Fife sites-
A nice count of five Roseate Tern at Burntisland on 21st August, presumably dispersing from the burgeoning breeding population on Coquet Island, Northumberland.
A visit to Fife Ness area on 22nd coincided with the discovery of a superb Adult Sabines Gull sitting very close inshore at times with a small flock of Kittiwake off the seawatching hide. While watching the Sab's we heard a Wood Sandpiper calling and picked it up flying in off the sea-migration magic!
Nice Sabines! Hope you're doing well
