Haven't caught up with many migrants on the Fife Coast so far this spring. May started well with up to 8 Wood Sands frequenting Rossie Bog, i managed to catch up with 5 of them as well as a pair of Garganey. Since then a persistent Westerly airflow has'nt helped matters although it's been great for birders on the west coast-would have liked to have been there to see 600 Long-tailed Skuas off the Ayrshire coast a few days ago. However there were some hints that it might be worth getting out and about this weekend with a sprinkle of stuff on the Northern Isles, an Icky on the Isle of May and then a male R B Shrike at Fife Ness yesterday.
Decided to go to Kincraig Head in the Outer Forth as this has a track record for shrikes and looks good for other things. The birding gods were not on my side today though and there were no migrants to speak of. So I kept myself occupied taking pics of the Fulmars as they made some nifty manoeuvres along the cliff edge and a very inquisitive young Fox also came within range of the camera.
