viz mig at Hawkcraig Point

An early morning watch for a couple of hours on the inner Forth at Hawkcraig Point, Aberdour on Sunday (July 11th) produced some typical late summer movement in the shape of 4 Crossbill and 14 Sand Martin heading West. A flock of 29 Lapwing that came in high from inland and landed on the foreshore between Silversands and Burntisland was another sign that autumn has begun for some birds. Crossbill movement seems quite prominent over the last few weeks, even had a flock of seven chipping their way west at rooftop height over our house in Dunfermline suburbia on Sat(July 10th).

Common Terns were numerous off Hawkcraig Pt
on Sunday but the post breeding gathering of
Sandwich Terns on the Forth has yet to get
                                              going.
