December 18th- Down at Loch Leven again on a biting cold but bright morning. Some distant geese grazing on St Serfs Island were a bit of a challenge. Six White-fronts, including 2 Ads were picked out, assigning them to race at this distance was less easy but the pale looking ground colour to the bellies, well marked flank bar and size in relation to nearby Greylag put me in favour of Eurasian. Another 5 orange legged, dark geese were almost certainly Tundra Bean given their size/ shape, short dark bills and V dark head and neck merging into pale breast. One bird flapped it's wings which were reassuringly lacking in contrast.
