Isle of Wight Day 2
West High Down to Needles
Cloud cover and a north-east head wind had dropped some migrants but lacking in variety, mainly involving Chiffs and Willow Warbler(17 of the former and 15 of the latter). A good number of Meadow Pipit were arriving in off the sea and heading north and we ended up with a total of 321. The only other migrants were 2 Wheatear.
Western Yar
Moving on to Yar Estuary where by the far the best bird was a Spotted Shank starting it's moult into summer plumage and hanging around with a Greenshank. Black-tailed Godwits were looking very smart too.
