July 29th
Vane Farm

No notable passage waders here today but entertainment was provided by 2 Juv Peregrines (male and female) terrorising the gulls and Lapwing around the floods. I was hoping for some frame filling pics of them practising hunting but as soon I sat down in the hide and got the camera out it was time for them to land on the furthest island and have a rest.
Otherwise a pair of Little Grebe with a Juv and 5 Canada Geese, not a particularly common species in this part of the world.

Perhaps not the most exciting topic, but Canada Geese still have a rather patchy  distribution  in Scotland.  There  is  a famous moult migration of English birds to the Beauly Firth in late summer and it's possible that these birds at Vane could have come from South of the border.
