April 13th and 14th

The change from the long period of cold easterlies to a mild airflow this weekend has encouraged a few migrants North. Single Common Tern off Largo Bay yesterday along with 3 stunning Summer Slavs, then at Levenmouth 1 Sand Martin in off and 7 Sandwich Terns.
Today 2 Swallows over the road near Loch Leven contrasted with flocks of northbound Pinkies feeding up in the fields.

Spring seawatching in the Forth is not as productive as autumn and mainly involves local movements of breeding species but there was an enjoyable westerly run of 118 Kittiwake past Kinghorn this morning-lovely birds.
