Letham.
The 2 Wood Sands found earlier in the week and the Juv LRP still present. Only 1 Ruff visible while I was there but the small Dunlin flock had increased slightly to 16 birds.
Carlingnose Point.
Quieter than yesterday no doubt due to the stronger SW breeze and cloudy, often murky conditions. When I started going to Carlingnose last year I was surprised at how Skuas and Red-throated Divers would battle inland into fairly strong W or SW winds at a site where you would only really expect there to be much happening if the wind was in the range of NW to NE. Presumably in certain conditions when a deep low is to the N of Scotland birds come down the N sea and still cut cross country up the Forth to move round the worst of the weather.
Even today 2 Bonxie were attempting to go inland.

Wood Sand is the 18th species of wader I've had this year at this productive site. |
