October 4th.
Probably never wanted to be heading for a day in the office less in my life. Overnight rain and easterlies followed by a mild overcast dawn and my first redwing of the autumn calling as I got into the car at Dunfermline..

October 5th.
East Neuk of Fife.
Me and Colin Nesbit headed up for a day of bush bashing. We going to be a day late for the bigger fall but were hoping that some birds would be lingering and taking advantage of the sunny weather to feed up. The highlight of our modest tally was 'just' 3 Yellow-brows at Kilminning. This autumn has been exceptional for them, but you can't tire of seeing them. Good looking, good call, not much bigger than a Goldcrest and they come all the way from Siberia.
Other migrants were mainly restricted to small numbers of commoner species, single Brambling, couple of Wheatear, small no's of Chiffs, Goldcrest, Blackcap etc. We went and checked out some spots closer to St Andrews, Kingsbarns and Cambo area look great, a little surprised not to get a Yellow-brow there(although there is so much cover, there probably was one), we did get a Common Redstart.

Awesome flock of at least 100 Tree Sparrow down at the bottom end of Kilminning(with another 25 nearby at Balomie)

Initial obscured views of a bland faced chat fairly high in the Sycamores along the edge of the Cambo Estate had me thinking possible R B Fly but then it revealed it's true identity. Still a lovely bird mind.
