Recently..
Haven't managed to get my timing right, but thats the way it go's sometimes. Last Sat 12th I was allowed out to play up the E Neuk but despite the raging ENE wind it was too bright and very few land migrants were around with just a handful of goldcrests and thrushes at Kilminning. The day was stopped from being a total loss by a few glances at the sea, in the morning I had 4 Sooty Shears N off Kingsbarns and in the afternoon a blue fulmar (intermediate morph seen feeding near a normal one) and single Arctic Skua and Bonxie off Kilminning.
Sun 13th saw me local down at Carlingnose Pt and not a bad little Vis mig/seawatch. A group of 7 GN Divers that came in from the E and then spent ages circling high was a very fine site. Thought they were going to go inland but they turned back eventually. GND's are pretty scarce on the Fife coast but it does seem that October is a good month to get passage birds here, I've seen the odd bird in the Forth at this time before but never this many together. Some skuas did go inland with 8 Bonxie and 4 Arctic Skuas. Hundreds of Gannets coming in from the E and swirling around, as always difficult to prove that any were going inland but some clearly do if you check this link and scroll down the page a fair bit

This week have been doing Bat Surveys in the Borders while getting gripping texts about Sibe warblers on the Fife coast. Still I was able to enjoy some migration on 14th with a flock of 130 Barnacle Geese(the flock also containing a single Wigeon) going over and a flock of 100 Redwing departed to the South at dusk too.
