Letham, Fife.

With a message coming through on the Fife network yesterday about 5 Garganey flying N over the Forth, Letham seemed like a good bet for them to pitch into. I didn't find five but one fine drake was present. Waders inlcuded 1 LRP, 2 Common Sand, 23 Redshank and 6 Dunlin. The Dunlin looked excellent in full summer plumage and there had been a definite arrival of Redshank; in addition to birds exhibiting obvious territorial behaviour there was a close nit feeding group of around 15 feeding with the Dunlin. Also 4 White Wag and around 200 Sand Martin added to the fine spring spectacle.

After this, a trip out to the East Neuk at Kilminning wasn't so productive, I had reasonable hopes after an arrival on the Scottish E coast yesterday- Wryneck, Yellow-browed Warbler in Lothian for instance, but the best on offer was a Lesser Whitethroat.
