Still trying to work out what happened weekend just gone and last week, despite having the chance to do some birding on the Lincolnshire, Lothian and Fife coast in good drift migrant and sea watching weather I did an excellent job of avoiding anything rare or scarce. There were plenty of commoner migrants and it was fun sorting through them with that feeling that the goodie was round the corner but it didn't really happen.
Best day was on Sat at Barns Ness with 2 Pied Fly along with Spotted Fly, Redstart, lots of Goldcrest, Chiffs, Robins. The latter 3 species were a feature at all the places I was at.
Back down the local patch at Carlingnose Point on Sunday and it was an enjoyable morning in amazing weather with a nice variety of overhead migration including less regular species for the site such as Tree Sparrow, Yellowhammer, as well as the first Pink-footed Geese of the autumn. The bushes were also quite lively here too, nothing amazing but a Spotted Flycatcher and  an arrival of Goldcrest and Song Thrush. This isn't bad considering how far away you are in the Inner Forth from the open coast and got me thinking that I should probably check the bushes a bit more closely. I tend to be on route to the view point thinking skuas.
Finally a Sunday afternoon visit to Kilminning, Fife also failed on the scarce migrant front with lots of chiffs and crests, but not even the RB Fly that had been around earlier. Blue Tits seemed to be everywhere here-maybe some sort of movement/influx? Always great to see- female/Juv Merlin shot across the coastal car park.

Had some very close wildlife encounters while working in Lincolshire last week, this Fox came very close as did a Weasel carrying a vole in it's mouth. Also a Juv Marsh Harrier was so intent on a covey of Grey Partridge that it got within about 20 metres before it saw me.
