Last week..
I was back surveying in Lincolnshire again and just had time after work to squeeze in some visits to the coast. On Tuesday saw the Arctic Warbler at Donna Nook, a lifer for me and a lovely looking bird. It was also great to experience a fall of Goldcrest, I've had standard arrivals of this species before but nothing on this scale, must have been 200 birds just within a few hundred metres radius of the car park. All in all very atmospheric with a Long-eared Owl flying in and landing in a bush in front of me and a good looking candidate for a Siberian Chiffchaff seen in bushes by the cottage. A classic brown and white bird with a greyish neck collar and rusty brown 'cheeks' but not heard to call, a Common Chiffchaff and a late Willow Warbler were also nearby for comparison.
On Wen I wasn't rewarded for trying some other sites away from the crowds; Rimac was the best with a large L T Tit and crest flock near the car park looking promising; around 80 Goldcrest. Also 12 Brambling but that was it really.

Jupiter pre dawn.
