The long run of westerly gales pretty much killed the spring on the Fife coast since a few bits and bobs in early May.
I've still been checking Letham but it it's not been at it's best for passage waders this year. The water levels have been high but not so high you wouldn't get anything. It's just that the levels are forcing the waders to feed round the edges amongst the emergent vegetation where they are difficult to see. With persistence we actually had a reasonable variety today-1 LRP, 1 Ringed Plover, 4 Redshank, 2 Common Sands and of course plenty of Lapwing. A Lapwing chick was seen and hopefully the Redshank might have some young as they have bred here before.
After this the wife and I drove in the direction of St Andrews for some lunch and had a surprise Osprey flying NW over Dairsie carrying a fish. The direction  it came from makes us think the Eden Estuary is where it had been fishing, this is the logical closest place.
After Lunch and with the temperature now actually something close to what it should be in June a last (Probably) look at Kilminning for the spring migration but with the wind still in the South-west. A Spotted Flycatcher was more than I expected to get to be fair.
