Came across a Painted Lady while carrying out an ecological survey in N Ayrshire. I haven't seen many of these up in Scotland. The location was a bit random too, it was nectaring on bluebells in a woodland glade, although not far from the coast.
Made me wonder if there was something going on with these this year and a check of the net revealed that although there is nothing to suggest there is anything big happening (yet) there has certainly been an obvious arrival on the south coast of England the last few days. E.g. see here
