At a site I visit regularly for work in North Ayrshire there had been an arrival of migrants including two quality species I've not recorded here before; singing male Common Redstart and Lesser Whitethroat. Also my first Whitethroat and Sedge Warbler of the year.
Saturday May 7th...
Went out to the East Neuk of Fife in the afternoon. Difficult conditions with a strong cold easterly wind meaning there were few sheltered spots but with persistence I did find a Spotted Flycatcher. A short seawatch produced 4 Manx Shearwater and 11 Puffin.
Stopped off on the way back just outside of Crail where up to 6 Yellow Wags (Uncommon species in Fife) have been around a muddy farm track near Kirkmay Farm. At least two were still around including a cracking male.
