Med cruise May 2016 the final instalment.

Apart from the days birding in the Cadiz area already blogged about, most of the cruise ports and tours didn't allow time for proper birding but as always I kept my eyes peeled and there were things to see even in the less promising locations e.g. while in port at Venice flyover Purple Heron, Honey Buzzard and Pygmy Cormorant.
However for our final stop on the way back at Gibraltar we had booked on a tour that took us over the border to a traditional Andalucian Farm where the owner would give a talk on Cork production. I had hopes for this being potentially quite 'birdy' and this proved to be case. Raptors were particularly good as we walked the grounds of the farm house with views over nearby hills covered in cork oak woodland; a total of 6 species that comprised 25 Griffon Vulture, 1 Egyptian Vulture, 4 Booted Eagle, 1 Honey Buzzard migrating north, as well as Common Buzzard and Kestrel.
A classic line up of southern European passerines comprised singing Western Bonellis Warbler, Serin and Nightingale.
