This weekend

Some scorching weather and also some easterly biased winds on Sat but not much luck with any scarce migrants in Fife again. A trip out to Kilminning on Sat afternoon produced no birds of note but there was an obvious arrival of migrant butterflies with 25 Red Admiral and a Painted Lady seen.
The patch at Ferryhills has been fairly quiet, the easterlies on Sat pushed a few seabirds up the Forth-130 Kittiwake were seen flying up to the Forth Bridges then U-turning and 8 Arctic Tern flew inland.
Today at Ferryhills a late afternoon watch in warm conditions with my mind on scarce migrant raptors but no luck, but continuing the migrant butterfly theme 2 Painted Lady through to the NE.

Ironically the best bird of the weekend was a stones throw from my house in Dunfermline -singing Lesser Whitethroat in scrub surrounding a SUD's pond along Aberdour Road-heard on Sat and Sun as I passed with the car window down.
