Patch birding at Ferryhills this weekend and signs of early autumn passage continue. The highlights were a patch first Cuckoo and the first 4 Tree Pipits of the autumn through on Sat. Sunday was quieter but a light passage Swifts was nice to see with some birds whizzing by at head height. Since undertaking regular visible migration watches in the last couple of years, Ferryhills has been established as one of the best sites in the UK for autumn migration of Tree Pipits, if the pattern follows previous years then numbers should peak in the first half of August and  I have a day total of 167 to beat from August 14th 2016.

Full totals from this weekends watches here http://www.trektellen.nl/count/view/1563/20170709
