Last week while doing some a survey work in D and G, an awesome view of a Juvenile male merlin and a  kestrel in a aggressive encounter, impressive manoeuvrability from both species as they flew in and out of a stand of Scots Pine.

At the weekend, did the patch at Ferryhills on Sunday which proved to be good for variety and numbers especially as the wind was leaning towards the SE which isn't such an all round good direction for visible migration.
Notable counts included 46 Red-throated Diver, 144 Wigeon, 12 Arctic Skua, 56 alba wagtail, 392 Meadow Pipit and 16 Reed Bunting.

This week I'm on annual leave and this has coincided with a run of easterly winds. I've forsaken the patch in favour of some E coast bush bashing but I have been targeting some of the less well watched localities away from Fife Ness/Kilminning.
No big arrivals as yet but something of interest each day; Monday a Lapland Bunting over Boarhills plus a fall of Song Thrush and a Juvenile Ruff on the shore with Lapwing and  Tuesday, Kingsbarns 1 Yellow-browed Warbler, 1 Ring Ouzel, my first Redwing of the autumn and another Ruff.

Arctic Skuas heading inland at Ferryhills.
