When an email came through from the SOC about a boat trip out of Buckie Harbour to Portsoy for White-billed Diver I just had to go. There are plenty of reasons while birders want to get a White-billed Diver experience, a stunning looking bird, the largest diver, a remote breeder along the edge of the  Arctic Ocean from Russia to Canada. The spring gathering of White-bills off Portsoy, Aberdeenshire is a recently discovered phenomenon since about 2011.  This year an amazing peak count of 32 was made on 16th April. Our trip on 29th April 'only' recorded three but I would have been happy with just one.
