Last week I was working down in Northumberland and had a chance to drop into Cresswell Ponds. Plenty of waders including 5 Ruff and 2 Avocet.

My brother Jon has been up for a long weekend so a bit of birding was in order. Got him his first Crested Tit in the Highlands. Also a very nice seawatch from the hide at Fife Ness yesterday, full of  variety. An Osprey flying low past the hide was a minor surprise, sightings in Fife have increased dramatically but this is still a unusual occurrence for the Ness. Other things included 2 Roseate Tern, 2 Sooty Shearwater, 55 Manx Shearwater, 12 Bonxie, 3 Arctic Skua plus small numbers of Little Gull, Arctic Tern and Common Tern. A Juv Med Gull was another good record and waders included single Greenshank, Ruff and 2 Whimbrel.
The day before, Sat, a late pm watch at Kinghorn produced another 2 Roseate Tern.
