Sunday just gone...
Just one of those late autumn days you have to make the most of, still, calm, reasonably bright and surprisingly mild.
Started at Carlingnose Point for an hour or so. Bit of vis mig including a total of 43 RT Divers heading inland, and a very light trickle of finches. Then decided that I was probably missing out on some of the small bird movement given the still conditions and high cloud base and so moved to get an elevated view from my more recently discovered watch point at Ferryhill.
I picked up a bit more variety from here although nothing in any number.  A nice highlight were 9 Twite going through, a typical time of year to pick up this uncommon migrant along the Forth. Other bits and bobs included a Brambling and 4 Crossbill.
Later it was time once more for that winning combo of taking the missus for lunch near St Andrews followed by a late afternoon migrant check at Kilminning. It's on the late side now I guess and that was certainly reflected by the slim pickings on offer on the land. Nice views were had of a Woodcock flying around the central car park, a typical late autumn migrant. Blackbirds were also prominent but not much else.
Surprisingly given the calm conditons and light winds it was actually the sea the provided the best sightings with a Little Auk sat offshore while 2 Juv Pom Skuas and an Arctic Skua were hanging around chasing gulls.
